Community
Whilst ICL Commercial Law Ltd is a commercial enterprise, we have strong beliefs in supporting various areas of the community.
Support is offered by way of financial contribution, pro bono work and on a personal level by members of the firm.
ICL Commercial Law Ltd has chosen to support two specific charities:
The Masonic Grand Charity
Since 1980, the Masonic Grand Charity has made grants totalling over £100 million to thousands of individuals and national charities. The work of the Grand Charity continues a commitment to charitable support that began nearly 300 years ago in the earliest days of organised Freemasonry.
All of the money the charity distributes is provided mainly through an annual contribution made by individual Freemasons and fundraising ‘Festivals’ held each year.
The grants fall into three main categories:
Masonic Relief grants: financial assistance for Freemasons and their families who are experiencing hardship
Grants to Charities: Support for the important work of national charities of all sizes, in medical research; support for vulnerable people; youth opportunities; hospice services; air ambulance services and disaster relief worldwide.
Other Masonic charities: When justifiable needs arise, the charity will support the work of the other Masonic charities.
ICL Commercial Law Ltd is proud to support the Masonic Grand Charity.

The Chelsea Pensioners’ Appeal
The Royal Hospital Chelsea is not owned by the Government and has, for the last 320 years, been home to veteran soldiers who have surrendered their military pension to the Treasury in order to receive accommodation, food, uniform clothing, professional care and medical attention when they need it.
The Government provides a Grant in Aid to the Royal Hospital each year to cover the majority of the running costs, however major projects and non-routine maintenance require additional funds, which have to be secured through private donations.
Legislation on Care Standards is changing and people’s expectations of care quality are rising. The Royal Hospital must therefore respond and make appropriate changes to the buildings if it is to remain an attractive proposition for retired soldiers into the 21st century.
The Royal Hospital provides old soldiers with a fitting home in which to enjoy a stress free life within this historic National Institution.
Operations around the world will continue to make huge demands on our soldiers, non-commissioned officers and warrant officers. When the time comes for them to seek help in the twilight years of their lives, we wish to be able to support them in a decent and sympathetic manner, respecting their dignity and individuality and welcoming them into a place where their concerns and minor demands are understood. Above all, we strive to make them feel valued members of a society that owes them recognition and a huge debt for their loyal and courageous service to the Crown.
The Chelsea Pensioners’ Appeal is the Charity of the Royal Hospital and seeks to attract charitable gifts from donors to enable us to meet our running costs and achieve our core mission as the Home of the Chelsea Pensioners.
ICL Commercial Law Ltd is proud to support the Chelsea Pensioners’ Appeal and our Managing Partner, Jonathan Robinson continues to visit his friends in the Royal Hospital Chelsea as he realises that it is not solely financial support that is required to support the Chelsea Pensioners, but a friendly face to enjoy a drink and chat with is equally important.

Pro Bono Work
Pro bono publico, usually shortened to pro bono is a Latin phrase for professional work undertaken voluntarily and without payment or at a reduced fee as a public service.
Pro bono service, unlike traditional volunteerism, uses the specific skills of professionals to provide services to those who are unable to afford them.
ICL Commercial Law Ltd believes that it is essential to give something back to society that will be of benefit to people in need of the expertise we are able to provide. It is for this reason that our fee earners commit to providing a minimum of 1 hour per week providing a pro bono service. 1 hour per week does not sound that much but over a year it equates to dedicating at least one full week of time to providing pro bono work.
